Calcium Silicate Insulation Board 500mm x 1000mm x 25mm

Calcium Silicate Board is a brilliant product for insulating under pizza ovens and fire places.

It serves to significantly reduce heat loss through the floor of the oven and retain heat in the oven where it should be. 

In general oven construction the fire bricks for the floor are placed on top of this board.

PLEASE NOTE: a minimum of two boards must be ordered if the boards are going to be couriered.  If you are collecting from us then no problem ordering one board

A lot of oven builds are let down by a lack of insulation in the floor (just read the forums) and if the floor keeps loosing heat it makes cooking pizzas and other foods a lot harder and less successful.  It may seem like a big investment for something you can't see, but it is well worth it.  

The material is quite fragile by nature, but once placed on a solid flat hearth (or plinth), can handle the weight of the fire bricks and inner dome being placed on it.  It is easily cut with a hand saw (but manage the dust and wear a mask)and is less prone to being affected by moisture than ceramic fibre materials.

By general standards 25mm of calcium silicate board insulation would be considered on the lighter side, but it is adequate for residential ovens that are built on a concrete hearth where the intention is not to run the oven continuously or over long periods (6+hours).
