Calcium Silicate Board 610mm x 150mm x 50mm

Calcium Silicate Board is a brilliant product for insulating under pizza ovens and fire places.

It serves to significantly reduce heat loss through the floor of the oven and retain heat in the oven where it should be. 

In general oven construction the fire bricks for the floor are placed on top of this board.

This 610mm x 150mm x 50mm board is a great economical way to make your floor up in smaller sections rather than larger sheets.  

A lot of oven builds are let down by a lack of insulation in the floor (just read the forums) and if the floor keeps loosing heat it makes cooking pizzas and other foods a lot harder and less successful.  It may seem like a big investment for something you can't see, but it is well worth it.  

The material is quite fragile by nature, but once placed on a solid flat hearth (or plinth), can handle the weight of the fire bricks and inner dome being placed on it.  It is easily cut with a hand saw (but manage the dust and wear a mask)and is less prone to being affected by moisture than ceramic fibre materials.
